On The Title IX Endangered List: Men’s Gymnastics

Brian Liscovitz, a student at the University of Illinois is a member of an endangered species — he’s a male gymnast:

The sport of boys gymnastics has long vanished from New Jersey’s high school scene and it is vanishing from the college landscape as well. Title IX and budget cuts, sometimes working in concert, have reduced the NCAA ranks from 120 programs to 20. Half of those are in the Big 10 Conference.

And going forward when you’re watching the Summer Olympics and are wondering why Team USA isn’t winning any medals in Men’s Gymnastics, now you know why.
