The Title IX Axe Falls at URI

The toll: Men’s Tennis, Men’s Swimming, Field Hockey and Gymnastics.

Texas Swimming is apoplectic:

The University of Rhode Island is dropping men’s swimming.

It’s supposed to be a cost-cutting move, but the savings will be minimal.
Consider that the coaching staff is the same for both squads (little or no savings there), the schedule is identical (not a whole lot saved on travel), and the facility they share will still have to be operated just as it has been.
